DMCC: Dubai's Powerhouse for Trade, Finance and Digital Assets
Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) is the largest free zone in the UAE, founded by the Dubai government back in 2002, and today hosts over 26,000 registered companies across its two hubs in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Uptown Dubai. It delivers full foreign ownership, a 0% tax rate on qualifying income, and one of the region's most developed regulatory frameworks for crypto and Web3 ventures.
Set up by the Dubai government in 2002 to anchor the emirate's commodities trading sector, DMCC has grown over more than two decades into the UAE's biggest free zone measured by number of registered businesses. More than 26,000 companies now operate across its two mixed-use precincts in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Uptown Dubai, and the zone has picked up the Financial Times' fDi Magazine "Global Free Zone of the Year" title nine separate times including back-to-back recognition as the world's top Global Knowledge Zone.
DMCC's scope reaches well past physical commodity trading. The free zone is home to trading houses, financial institutions, fintech startups, media and creative studios, professional service firms, and one of the region's most active regulated ecosystems for crypto and Web3 companies. DMCC reports that it contributes to roughly 15% of the foreign direct investment flowing into Dubai. Its fully digital registration system has cut what once took weeks down to a matter of days, and its two mixed-use districts together host over 100,000 residents, professionals and visitors.
